Graphically shaped cooker rings

Cooker heating rings that are designed in the shape of letters, numerals or other symbols, so that you can easily tell which one to turn on. According to their size and volume, letters or numbers would naturally provide greater or lesser heat ranges. Especially useful for multi-ringed stoves, and will work equally well for gas, electric or infra-red. In a large restaurant kitchen, sequences of numbers or letters could be shouted out by the chef to his/her minions by way of instructions.

How would the minion know which hotplate was which when there's a pot on top of it?
-- BunsenHoneydew, Jan 27 2007

are you serious BH ? well if the hot plates were shaped as: & W @ R and one was covered, then you would determine which one it was by looking at the uncovered ones. The knob for the one that was on would also indicate this ---- dooooh this is very basic stuff.

Just A, B, C, D with knobs the same shape would be great. I still get it wrong wile looking at the little diagram.

this is an old Idea, so my interest in it is somewhat dim, but anyway [nomocrow] the symbols or letters need to have a degree of shape and surface volume to create a larger surface area for heating up ie '&' is better than 'V', but 'B's, 'M's and 'A's are ok along with a few other letters and symbols.
