Reproduce a person's likeness in black and white or perhaps
colorized wherein each pixel of the target image is a minute
QR code chosen for its light or dark shade. With respect to
size, an 8x10 inch high resolution photo would have about
eight million pixels. Eight million QR codes would reference
an extensive library of documents or other data.

According to Wikipedia [link], QR codes use a "mask" that inverts
some of the pixels specifically to break up visual patterns and
make the pattern more uniformly dense. However, you've
probably seen QR codes with images integrated into them—these
take advantage of the error correction features of the QR code
system. The image obscures some of the data that would be in
the code, but the error correction is enough to reconstitute it.
Therefore, you could probably just flip enough pixels to adjust
the overall darkness of each QR code that forms a pixel of the
larger image, and rely on error correction to keep them
readable. (Error correction level is variable—some generators
have a setting for it.) |
