Who has the time to work an office shift and go to the gym today? With the pedal power office emplyees can keep fit while they're at work, and incidentally save huge amounts on electricity bills for the company by powering their own work stations!
The system consists of a converted exercise bike connected
to a dynamo generating electrcal current. This power then runs the computer. This electricity can then be used to run the computers and lighting.
Laptops and other portable equipment can be powered with hand cranks and the vending machines are opperated with a tread mill.
If someone forgets to turn off their work station when they leave that's no problem as the computer will run out of power once the employee stops pedaling.
Emplyee of the month would be decided on the grounds of worker colesterol levels and/or weight loss.
The pedal powered office should soon benefit by superb levels of emplyee fitness.
Similar, but adding mobility

You may want a back up power suply for your computer for when you run out of steam but other than that. (+) |

So how do the physically handicapped become employee of the month (or work there at all)? |

What happens when I need to step away from my computer for a few minutes to help a coworker? If I have to shut down (or suspend) my workstation everytime I need to step away and then restart once I resume pedling, I'll never get anything done. |

Those overnight 3D renderings would be a drag. |

A pedally thingyo that also generates leccy is a good idea, especially for all us people who hate being sedentary during work hours. I think it would be better if energy generated this way was stored and used for lighting/heating/ etc. though rather than relying on it to power computers. |

Good one, [squeak] - the more you pedal, the more A/C you get. |

So I could be worker of the month by doing no appreciable work, but just working out and eating oatmeal all day? Where do I sign up? |
