You Know those holographic posters? The one's that are completely incomprehensible until your eyes focus at the proper distance, and then an image seems to pop out of the page. The posters that have the person standing beside you saying, "I don't see it, I don't see it".
I would like to
see these types of holographic images placed in the pages of novels, incorporated directly into the text.
It would probably render the individual holo-pages a little hard to read, but the cheesy gimmick factor, should more than offset the strain of having to puzzle through two or three pages of a good book.

Are you talking about random dot stereograms? |
Yes, I just didn't know what they were called. |

Those things never worked for me (mono vision), so fishbone. |

The story just seems to jump out at you... |

i think the problem would be that a large precentage of people (if not most) never can see the images. we're deprived. |
could you focus a camera to take a snap of the image? just a thought - back to sleep. |
yes, quite! is it possible? I would love to see one of those images without worrying about unsquinting my eyes :) |
could thumb do an image of po's squinty eyes? |
I love those links [jutta] - they make my eyes hurt! |

I have NEVER been able to see those images and I'm convinced they don't exist! It's like the emperor's new clothes, no one can see them and they just don't want to admit it! Or it's a conspiracy and behind my back everyone is laughing as I stare and squint and altogether waste my time. |

There may be software that could interpret the image, and generate a 3D virtual-reality object from it. The stereogram could be rotated on screen, just like any 3D computerized image. Then most people could see the effect. |
