I like this idea, only I think it should be run by the government.

These clothes would be made of cling film/plastic wrap.Made in the shape of regular clothes but with a dual purpose.1.Keep the wearer warmer than wearing nothing.2.Still allow them to show off what they've got.

NSFW. Also, there are children in the picture. But they're not naked, even though they look like they are. [notexactly, Aug 26 2019]

See-through clothing is not a new invention in any way whatsoever. Though I guess expecting naturists to wear clothing of any sort might be.
DrCurry, Aug 22 2004

This idea eliminates the entire purpose of being nude. Besides, most see thru plastic only works if it's flat. If you curve it into the shape of a person, the glare and the weird surface will not even let you see the nudist from the head down.
croissantz, Aug 22 2004

[bw61] sounds kinky. How about drilling holes in the plastic?

Well, when I want to keep warm I just usually wear one of those clear plastic raincoats, it still shows off my assets without compromising my--hey, wait a minute, I'm not a nudist!
Machiavelli, Aug 22 2004

So if the emperor is demanding new clothes, what do you make them from now?
phlogiston, Aug 23 2004

//I find that most people who prefer nudity do it <snip> [for] the tactile sensation (the wind running across one's sensitive, nubile skin)//

I never came across that. For the year I lived in a nudist commune, we were nude to be intimate with nature. It is how we come into this world and it feels natural. The 'tactile sensation' is just a by-product of being nude and not a cause celeb in itself. And, it had a practical side in that we had to haul all water about 1/2 mile, and clothes washing seemed more trouble than it was worth.

       My 2¢

[Klaatu], you have a cent key on your keyboard? I'm so jealous.
Machiavelli, Aug 23 2004

       What [bwv61] said.

Also, if your a nudist, I'm sure the last thing you want to be wearing is plastic.

"Even licensed nudists had to wear clothing some of the time" From the Jigsaw Man by Larry Niven.
Cats Whiskers, Aug 23 2004

Python's idea was fully developed in "Up Schist Creek," a short story by Piers Anthony. The clothing even served as a condom.
ldischler, Aug 23 2004

I think nudists like the feeling of being unrestricted by clothing. Of course, I'm basing this opinion on an extrapolation of my own nudist experiences which are so far limited to not wearing a watch.
Worldgineer, Aug 23 2004

[Bach], you're really one to watch out for. You crack me up...never fails.
Machiavelli, Aug 23 2004

I feel that there is not a long enough list of people who say this is bad.

       I voted against it.
Cheekio, Aug 24 2004

OK, thanks, [scout]. I knew I could count on someone to come through for me in my time of ignorance.

[Bach], throwing up is the highest form of flattery! Thank you!
Machiavelli, Aug 24 2004

[scout] an easier way to insert the "¢" symbol is to hold down your [alt] key and type in 0162 and then release the [alt] key. Violá! You have a "¢".
Klaatu, Aug 24 2004

Doesn't work for me [klaatu]. Neither does pasting symbols.

       Drat foiled again.

¢...yep, worked for me. Yay! Now I can type stuff like "He's ¢3 short of a penny" or some other such nonsense. Thanks, [Klaatu]. I'm forever in your debt.
Machiavelli, Aug 24 2004

That's okay [Machiavelli], just slip £5.00 in the mail and we'll call it even.
Klaatu, Aug 24 2004

       £5?
po, Aug 24 2004

[klaatu] I hear violas, I hear violas cost a lot more than a [cent], (rats, didn't work for me either)

and [World] whoa boy, slow down with those graphic mental images!

as opposed to what ?

I find lounging around in my boxers indoors to be quite enough.
