Following the logic of Calciballs. Making tiny balls of non-stainless steel should serve the same purpose. Furthermore their degradation in various solutions can be adjusted with various non-toxic alloys, and would add an expiration date to these products beyond which they would become uncomfortably
scratchy due to rusting. This expiration date would significantly add to product sales.

Iron/steel could certainly be used as a scrubbing agent
for hands. Is that what this is? How tiny are you thinking? |

too long and it turns into a rusty mess. |

antimicrobial effect: Ag+ ions do, and I think Mg+, Zn+. |

It could stain things quite badly. Tiny iron balls in any
significant amount will block your drains though. But hey,
you could probably unblock them with a magnet. |

environment, so you might get hydrogen sulphide, iron
sulphide... |

Water pollution could be an issue if lots of people started
using this though. It might cause algal blooms in your
waterways and coastal ocean - I seem to remember that
iron filings spread on oceans is a proposed carbon
sequestration mechanism because iron is a limiting
nutrient in some oceans. Also anoxic environment leading
to dead zones. |
